Testimony: Sister Patricia Blair

Sister Patricia Blair and her husband Deacon Anderson Blair have been members of New Beginnings Ministries for several years.  She is a member of the Usher Ministry, and also helps out on the Hospitality Committee.

I could not eat, sleep, nor lay down.  The only way I could stop the pain was to stand up.  I was not saved at the time this happened.  But let me tell you something, I could not describe the pain – all I knew is I had to get to a hospital.  When my husband came home for lunch break, I was at the door waiting on him.

We went to the emergency room.  They rushed me in the back.

The doctors informed me that I had a heart attack, and that I needed three stents in my arteries, which were blocked.  No blood could flow to my heart.

I want to thank God for giving me a heart of a servant.  I thank him for lifting me up when I was down.  I want to thank Him for saving my soul and for making me whole.

MENTORING PROGRAM DEBUTS SUCCESSFULLY

New Beginnings kicked off the New Year by introducing a new program for members. Partners in Christ is a mentoring program designed to fulfill the individual needs of church parishioners.

People of all ages filled out applications to become enrolled in this new, exciting, year-long development. Partners in Christ intends to build confidence in both the mentor and mentee by developing interpersonal and communication skills.

Participants will be involved in one-on-one apprenticeships, spiritual development and extra-curricular activities.

Mentoring will benefit New Beginnings by enabling us to fully utilize our human resources, create lasting relationships, and discover talents while building existing skills. Jesus mentored his twelve disciples, and our goal is to become more like Christ.

SUNDAY SCHOOL HOSTS BLACK HISTORY BREAKFAST

YOUTH SUNDAY RETURNS WITH A BANG

The Member Development Auxiliary of the Young Adult Action Committee works to bring inspirational entertainment to Sunday Service. In January, the committee reprised Youth Sunday. Youth Sunday was a New Beginnings tradition in its early years. Members of the Youth Ministry conduct the entire service, including reading scripture, prayer, and ministering in the Praise and Worship service.

Pastor Hawk brought forth the Word from Psalms 148:1-14 entitled “Praise Him, Praise Ye the Lord.”

Youth Sunday teaches children discipline, public speaking, and church etiquette. Children involved have improved communication skills and self-confidence. It also benefits the church parishioners and the community-at-large to see children worshipping the Lord.

Children can be involved in the Youth Ministry without being members of the church. To get your children involved in positive spiritual enrichment, contact First Lady Hawk at contactnbmj@gmail.com.

CHURCH HOSTS INAUGURAL COMMUNITY OUTREACH FESTIVAL

“And do not neglect doing good and sharing; for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

Hebrews 13:16 gives voice to one of New Beginnings Ministries’ main focuses this year. In an effort to win souls and make disciples, the church is presenting the first ever New Beginnings Festival. We are offering a day filled with resources that will provide the people with a fresh start in their lives.

We are welcoming anyone who is interested in improving their lives. This includes people dealing with drug addictions, joblessness, homelessness, poverty, disability, family conflicts, grief and more. We are offering prayer, as well as being a liaison to community organizations.

The Independent Living Resource Center, Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition, Young Lives, Operation New Hope, Youth Crisis Center, City of Jacksonville,  and the City Rescue Mission will be in attendance, along with other community service organizations.

Expect free Resurrection services like free haircuts and beauty gift bags for kids 12-years-old and under.  Check out our Kid’s Corner, featuring  including a crafting station, face painting and and egg themed games.

Food will be offered at a barbeque style concession stand, along with jamming music and dynamic live performances by the NBMJ Youth Choir.

The festival will be held at New Beginnings Ministries located at 1836 E. 11th St., Jacksonville, FL 32206. We welcome the entire family to fellowship us on Saturday, April 19 from 11 am – 3 pm.
